Tell us about your background:
For the past twenty years, I’ve been working in the professional IT recruitment and managed/professional services space as a Senior Information Technology business leader. I’ve developed deep relationships across the Australian Commonwealth Government, Australian commercial sector (including banking and finance, FMCG, telecommunication environments) and IT vendor community to the Cxx level.
What’s your USP?
I am an entrepreneur at heart so I have a strong focus on the business outcome by providing an honest and ethical client solution journey. I believe that by exhibiting clear and transparent business and sales leadership I can support the achievement of personal, team and organisational goals and targets.
Having founded an organisation deploying IT recruitment, management consulting and IT professionals, I’ve gained a unique perspective on the importance of business driven activities such as sales, marketing and financial management on a large scale.
Equally I have a profound understanding about managing growth pain, cashflow and business projections in an SME, but most importantly, knowing who you are in the world and how to deliver best practice against larger cornerstone organisations. This has resulted in a significantly closer client partnership and them engaging as an internal business partner with full deliverable responsibility, not an external provider with all care and no responsibility.
Which area of recruitment have you focussed on?
Over the past ten years, I have become a trusted supplier to 25 Australian Government departments and more than 150 commercial clients. These have included IT & C vendors in Australia, China, Singapore and North America as well as to the New South Wales and Australian Commonwealth Government departments.
What’s your goal for the next 12 months?
My goal with Asq Projects as General Manager is to organically grow the organisation by aligning our highly specialised IT Project Management and Transformation capabilities with our current and new clients, enabling critical delivery capability where traditionally organisations have struggled. The end result; having complete confidence in deploying major business initiatives driven by IT infrastructure or software projects.
Which personal achievement are you most proud of?
In 2010 I founded an SME IT Recruitment and Professional Services organisation in Canberra, a predominantly Government environment. The Commonwealth Government IT environment was tough with cutbacks on recruitment and general IT spend, but, there were maturing emerging pockets in the market around Data Centre, Business Intelligence and Cloud computing of which we closely aligned with a number of the major vendors. This helped them succeed in winning many large multi-million dollars multi-year tenders. In late 2014, the business was acquired by an international System Integrator that valued not only the ongoing client relationships but also the high level of human capability the business had cultured in the 4 years of operation. A very proud and sad day on completion of the acquisition all at the same time!
When you’re not delivering excellent recruitment solutions, you are…?
I’m an AVID sports enthusiast, specifically gymming, cycling, surfing and snow boarding. I’m currently racing in the various Australia wide endurance cross country Mountain Bike races and you can find me training daily for these events. In a previous life, I also played a high level of competitive tennis nationally and internationally.
